Sierra Pacific West, Inc. is a general engineering contracting firm based in the City of Vista located in Northern San Diego County. We have been serving the County of San Diego for over thirty years by providing services in heavy highway, roadway, public school, memorial, community parks, and agency related work. Summary/Objective The project design engineer provides design efforts from inception through production both in new product design and in existing product redesign. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • To be considered, candidate must be able to comprehend Civil Grading Plans • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management. • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors. • Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates. • Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests. • Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements. • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems. • Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions. • Controls project costs by approving expenditures; administering contractor contracts. • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions. • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations. • Maintains project data base by writing computer programs; entering and backing up data. • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations. • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
