We are seeking a few reliable, professional security guards to help patrol the nation’s largest commercial building, the iconic Merchandise Mart. These are union jobs with a competitive hourly wage and superior benefits. You’ll provide superior customer service by maintaining a highly visible presence while being vigilant for unusual, hazardous (think water on a floor/slip and falls) or suspicious situations or people. We are actively hiring for two shifts: 1st Watch is 1030pm-to-7am. 3rd Watch is 230pm-to-11pm. Again, we’re a union shop so scheduling is based upon seniority. Security Guard Duties and Responsibilities • Monitor the company's property and maintain a safe and secure environment • Be watchful for suspicious activities/people. • Act as a consistent presence to deter criminals • Report any suspicious/unusual occurrences • Patrol premises regularly, including stairwells, upper floors and the perimeter • Monitor and control access to building entrances • Monitor alarm systems and video cameras Security Guard Requirements and Qualifications - Current PERC Card Holders Move to the Front of the Line! • High school degree or equivalent • Significant work experience as a security guard or other relevant position • Basic computer skills necessary for reporting and communications • Good working knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols • Keen surveillance skills and detail orientation • Integrity, professionalism, and character beyond reproach
