Description:
Now located out of the water in the Hinckley Yard in Stuart Florida, Spirit’s 2021 survey states "in good condition with a value of $259,000, and a replacement cost of $1,650,000.” She has been on the hard since the survey due to Covid and arrival of hurricane seasons. In 2022/23 All of the hydraulic lines from her Lewmar Commander pump in the bow to her Rechman furler in the mast were replaced. The bearings at the top and the bottom of the mandrel in the mast were also replaced. The Hood vertically battened main sail had been stored in the mast. The North foresails and spinnaker have been stored in the vessel. All of the sails are in good or nearly new condition. A new mast light forward was fitted. Both her boom vang and backstay units were overhauled. In 2012, her mast was removed, disassembled, and painted by Sea Tek at which time her side shrouds were replaced, her Norseman fittings from old wire were refit to new wire and a Wi Fi antenna was added with cable to mast base. Her chain plates and wire were visually inspected by Mack Sails in December 2022. An estimate for all new wire was provided but not recommended. As she has been on the hard for 3 years, her rigging is essential less than 10 years old. Her running rigging and her backstays need to be replaced. Her Raymarine electronics have been updated with current software and C-Map chips. All may be synced to your I-pad. Add an Apple TV interface and the display can be viewed on her large flat TV screen in the main salon Entertainment system includes 4 NHT speakers placed in each corner of her saloon plus a Polk Sub-woofer. She has another system in her aft cabin. Her super strong Merecedes 125 hp non-turbo diesel has a 100 hr. engine oil report. From her Blackstone Oils analysis, copy available, at 8900 hours, “RICHARD: Your OM 352 is wearing well based on this data. Universal averages for this type of engine show typical wear levels after about 65 hours of oil use. You went 100 hours on this oil and wear metals are average or lower. That shows internal parts are in great shape at 8,900 total hours. That means we don’t see any reason to rebuild this engine. It's wearing well!" I will add that compared to newer turbo and non-turbo units with computerized management, she can be repaired anywhere while they often require a technician for service. And, she has an extensive parts locker. Her Onan 6.5 KW genset is driven by a Luger diesel with its own parts locker. She was built by Ta Shing in Taiwan using FRP construction which is superior to regular fiberglass. Ta Shing is an OEM manufacturer for brands such as this Norseman 535, Nordhaven, Mason, and other high quality yachts. A recent inspection shows no water in her hull. She has never blistered. She has one new coat of fresh bottom paint. Her Maxprop with line cutter has been re-pinned, and her Zincs are new. Her teak deck has been removed. She has two separate heads each with enclosed showers and electric vacuum-flush heads. Her galley has new stone countertops. She has a 4 burner stove with oven and two refers one driven by the motor and another by shore power when available. Her tankage is all aluminum. 3 for water and 4 for fuel. All transfer lines are stainless steel. Her filters include twin Racors which may be changed over while running. Other 50’s on Yachtworld presently include the following brands: Cheoy Lee, Beneteau, Tayana, Irwin, Bavaria, and Bristol. Their asking prices range between $175,000 and $390,000. Your comparison with the Norseman is highly encouraged. Indeed, her build design and construction quality puts in her in a league with Oyster, Hylas, Little Harbor, and other first line yachts at pricing closer to and above $350,000 used and $1,500,000 new. Her designer Gary Grant worked alongside Bob Perry. They collaborated on the legendary Norseman 441. The 535 is the 441 on steroids. What sets her apart from other yachts of similar size like the Oyster 53 is the modernity of her interior design, her B1 Style Hard Dodger. her oversized furling gear, and her superior engine and genset. For more information concerning her please go to her website: SPIRTOFAUSTRALIABOAT.COM For information concerning her designer: https://www.Amsgrant.com Mr. Grant is a recognized expert in his field. The interior layout of this vessel fully attests to that. He worked alongside Bob Perry on the 441. YouTube: You may also view her on Youtube transiting the Panama Canal. Go to Meredith (her current Owner’s middle name) at Panama Canal. Speed under power at 2200 RPM, is 7.0 knots. Max power is at 2400 RPM. Under sail, she will make 8's. With Spinnaker, 12's. She is a 200 miles per day cruiser. For the Bahamas she only draws 6.5 feet. Her mast height, forbids the Intracoastal. This owner has maintained her for 18 years and sailed her over 15,000 miles. As a live-a-board she compares favorably with a small condo. She served her owner as such in Port Sydney, San Francisco, Cabo San Lucas, Fort Lauderdale, Treasure Cay, Brunswick, and St. Augustine. She was pulled out at the Hinckley Yard in 2021, arguably one of the finest boat yards anywhere. In summary, this is a serious vessel well suited to a knowledgeable sailor who has blue water experience. While she can and has been single handed with powered furlers and primaries, an appropriate crew size is at least 3. Your inspection is invited. With an appointment, which I will arrange, Bev at the front desk at Hinckley will provide entrance. Stuart is an hour north of the Palm Beach airport or two hours north of Fort Lauderdale.
