WHO WE ARE Second Use is a community-focused business dedicated to diverting reusable building materials from the landfill and selling them to the public at an affordable cost through our retail stores. We acquire building materials (doors, cabinets, windows, appliances, flooring, hardware, and architectural antiques) from buildings slated for remodel or demolition, as well as leftover materials from contractors and build projects. We present the salvaged materials in our Tacoma store as well as our website (seconduse.com). Store staff prep the materials for sale and help customers find materials they can use in their projects. Our staff members share a passion for keeping good stuff from going to waste, an interest in old stuff, a strong work ethic, and general sense of humor. BENEFITS -Medical -Dental -Paid time off -Employee discount -Quarterly store credit dividends JOB DESCRIPTION Tacoma Outreach Coordinator The overarching goal for this position is to develop a strong local brand and voice for Second Use in the Tacoma area, connecting residents, construction industry professionals and public agencies to our important work of rehoming materials in the community. The position is posted as 20 hours per week, starting pay $23+/hr DOE. For applicants interested in full-time work, this position may be combined with other duties at our company. The role will include the following: Strategy Development: -In conjunction with senior management, develop outreach strategy and plans for the Tacoma store -Identify business growth opportunities, and prioritize together with senior management Event Coordination: -Develop and plan for on-site events at the Tacoma store to draw in new audiences and potential customers -Assess and prioritize opportunities for participating in off-site community events such as neighborhood fairs, markets, lifestyle events -Participate directly in events and coordinate participation of other staff Social Media: -Develop Tacoma-oriented social media channels and post regularly, working with the Seattle-based Outreach Coordinator -Coordinate with Tacoma store staff to stay up to date on our current offerings, and brainstorm ideas for creative content Marketing/Publicity: -Work with Seattle based Outreach Coordinator on materials and media for marketing Second Use in the Tacoma area -Actively initiate the development of professional contacts which can help grow the business -Attend industry-specific events/conferences on behalf of Second Use and report finding/educational opportunities to company and staff Experience/skills in the following desired: -Demonstrated experience and expertise in marketing, communications, event planning and/or related fields -Knowledge of the Tacoma community and local businesses -Strong professional and personal network in the Tacoma area -Experience with salvage, building construction, building materials, etc. a plus but not required If you are interested in joining the Second Use team, apply via the link below or at the top of this listing.
