Description:
Hello! For your consideration is a pretty neat Schwinn Paramount Track bike. When I purchased the frame it had already been drilled for brakes, which I feel was a blessing in disguise as I couldn't bring myself to do this to such a bike but it meant that I might actually ride the bike someday. I fitted the bike with wheels I had built using Campagnolo Tipo hubs and Soma Weymouth rims. As you may have noted, these are 650b wheels, which allows for a wider tire to be used making the bike even more practical. A track bike with fat tires and brakes? What is this thing, some kind of proto-tracklocross bike? A Tracklonneur? I will leave it up to you to decide. I think it's closest to a Rivendell Quickbeam, as the smaller wheels drop the bottom bracket to a manageable height, making for a very stable ride. Heck, the wheelbase is the same as my Bridgestone XO 1! So while you may not set a new hour record on this thing, you can spend an hour on it and not be sore or beat up afterward. I can send more pictures if you'd like. My week is pretty hectic, but am happy to meet in person for you to get a better look at it.
