Splawn Blowout!!

I have 4 Splawn amps available All 4 amps have been professionally modified with the same 2 mods, which I found incredibly useful at a gig. All mods were designed and executed by a trained and experience electrical engineer. Mod 1: Reducing the gain of OD 1 If you are familiar with Splawn amplifiers, they offer 2 overdrive modes (OD1 & OD2) only accessible by foot switch. They both sound good stock, but there was very little difference between them. By reducing the gain of OD1, it creates kind of a 3rd channel. This was accomplished by simply switching out the cathode bypass cap on the 2 tube stage for OD1 then putting it back in the circuit when OD2 is engaged. Mod 2: Switching Between Gear 1 & Gear 3 Another mode only accessible by foot switch is switching between Gears. If you are not familiar, Quickrods and Streetrods have 3 "Gears", which are simply 3 different amp voices; Gear 1 is similar to a JTM45, Gear 2 a JCM800, and Gear 3 a JCM900. Depending on how you have the Gear knob positioned, the foot switch allows you to switch either between Gear 1 & 2, or 2 & 3. Stock you could not switch from Gear 1 to Gear 3. This mod allows you to switch between Gear 1 & Gear 3, opening up the palette of sounds available, I could switch from a lower gain (Gear 1/OD1) setting to a higher gain (Gear 3/OD2) setting now.
