Description:
If you’re like me, you want everything in your home to be made with care by a real person. You want it to last a very long time, even longer than you. Better yet if it’s made with natural, sustainable, and renewable materials. That's the philosophy behind this mirror, which is made to order through my Etsy shop (https://tulawoodworking.etsy.com). - Each component is hand sawn, planed, and scraped before being brushed with shellac, an age-old approach that is rarely done, and virtually never done, commercially. - Each mortice and tenon is hand fit and secured with reversable horsehide glue that can be repaired if the mirror is ever damaged. - The mirror is hung with French cleats, wooden hooks that seat in the back of the mirror. These allow the mirror to be adjusted horizontally even after it is installed and easily removed for clearing. - There is a lifetime guarantee, no questions asked. I was inspired to make this mirror by an old Stickley design, to which I added gentle curves and more generous proportions made possible by modern glass. The curves make the mirror frame nearly oval on the inside but rectangular on the outside. As with the original design, I used mortice and tenon joints at each corner, adding a brace in the back for additional strength. Please feel free to contact me with questions, including quotes for custom mirrors or other household items. I can provide a 3D digital design, a phone consultation, and *gorgeous* results. I also love to chat about woodworking, so fire away! Best wishes, Blake
