Description:

Two bedrooms (one master w/ attached bath, one attic) in a 7 bedroom group-house with utilities split 7 ways. This is a huge place with 4 bathrooms, 3 refrigerators, a nice dining room, living room, front porch, small rear patio, front and backyard spaces (the backyard is currently pretty untamed, but past tenants have been very successful with gardening), and a small sunroom/former art studio that is currently functioning as a sewing and storage space. The front faces out over Rock Creek Park, which makes it by far the most lush front-porch view I’ve seen in DC. Your roommates will be a genuinely great group as well – they’ve been one of the major reasons that I’ve loved living here. We’re all friendly, and will occasionally end up eating our dinners together or hanging out in the living room, but we don’t actively plan group activities. The house is LGBTQIA+ friendly and vaccinated. The attic room is available right now – its former tenant moved to Texas earlier this month. The room available is a funky attic space (decent size with 2 windows, but with a narrow/steep stair). It's on the third floor and shares an upstairs bath with 4 people. It has exposed brick wall, hardwoods, awesome light, and windows facing the Zoo/Rock Creek Park. Room comes with a bedframe and clothing rack if you’d like, but is otherwise unfurnished. Price is $850/month + utilities (in my experience, between $100 and $150 per month). I’m moving to Atlanta in about a week and a half, and vacating the master bedroom. It’s an absolutely gorgeous space, also facing the Zoo, and gets wonderful light in the evening. The paint colors were a hand-me-down from the previous tenant, but you can definitely repaint them according to personal preference. The bathroom is small but serviceable, and has a reasonable amount of storage options. Furniture preferences are up to you – I’ll leave the green dresser, mirror, wire bed frame, and coat rack for free if you would like, and I’ll leave the West Elm mid-century external closet/chifferobe for an additional $250. Price is $974/month + utilities. Our house is a very short walk to the Zoo – the big cat and primate exhibits are (occasionally!) audible from both bedrooms. It’s less than a mile the Columbia Heights metro, and uphill-but-doable hike (or short H2 bus ride) to the Cleveland Park metro station. The H2 stops across the street from the house, and it’s about an 8-minute walk to the 42/43 bus lines, a 10-minute walk to the S2/S9 lines, or a 12-15 minute walk to the L2 and Adams Morgan. The bikeshare hub at the corner of Adams Mill and Harvard is also super nearby, and puts you directly on the Rock Creek trail down to Georgetown. Bestworld is the closest grocery store, and the Adams Morgan Safeway and Streets markets and groceries around the Cleveland Park metro are all accessible, as well. The Mt. Pleasant strip is home to Suns Cinema and a wide range of fun, very local bars and restaurants (Raven Grill, Marx Cafe, Haydee’s, OKPB, Taqueria Nacional, Elle, Beau Thai, Purple Patch, and many more). The house has central A/C, steam radiant heat, gas stove, w/d in the basement (free, not coin-op), and a recently-replaced and robust water heater. Our maintenance folks are local and super responsive, when things do occasionally need repair. The street in front is non-zoned, so you don't need a parking permit! Initial lease process includes an application and change-of-lease fee to the property manager, but after that the lease just renews month-to-month. We have a collective housecat (she belonged to a previous tenant and stayed here when the tenant moved to Reno, NV), so cat allergies will likely be a deal-breaker, unfortunately. We don't smoke indoors, and everyone cleans up after themselves and generally gets along – we're looking for people who are easy going, friendly, and respectful. If you think you’d be a good fit, let us know!
