Very Unique 1963 Yamaha MJ2 Scooter

Up for sale is my fairly rare 1963 Yamaha MJ2 scooter/ moped. I purchased the bike from the original owner, and have subsequently completed a light refurbishment. The bike is incredibly unique. It was one of the first Yamahas imported to the United States. It features: - a 55cc Radial Valve Motor - 3 Speed Foot operated Transmission - Front and rear drum brakes - Original 12V Ignition System The bike will get up to about 40 mph on the flat. The bike starts, accelerates, rides, and stops very well. I have put about 200 miles on it in my ownership. Recent work includes: - New Battery - Carb Cleaning - Brake Adjustments - Clutch Adjustment - New Spark Plug The bike is in overall excellent condition. The paint and chrome are all nice (especially considering the age). This is a very well preserved and lower mileage (4300) example of a fairly rare scooter. It is missing the battery cover on the right side of the bike and the two rear lens covers on the turn signals, neither of these affect the functionality. The bike keeps up with some of my larger Honda passports surprisingly well. This would be a fantastic errand bike, summer cruiser, around town bike or anything in between.
